Robert Marick
ADVISOR
Robert Marick is a seasoned entertainment executive, brand strategist, and licensing expert with more than three decades of experience building businesses around some of the world's most recognizable intellectual properties. He has managed enterprises ranging from start-up operations to businesses approaching $3 billion in scale. His career spans franchise strategy, brand management, marketing, sales, creative development, finance, licensing, product innovation, interactive entertainment, and location-based experiences. Robert's particular strength is transforming complex film, television, and character properties into coordinated products and experiences that expand audience engagement and generate sustainable growth.
Robert began his career at Mattel, where he developed a comprehensive understanding of the consumer-products business across operations, sales, marketing, finance, creative development, and product strategy. That foundation taught him how entertainment properties and consumer insights move through design, manufacturing, marketing, retail, and ultimately into the hands of customers.
During 12 years with The Walt Disney Company, Robert built and led sales and marketing organizations across several businesses. At Walt Disney Records, he held senior sales, trade-marketing, and general-management roles, helping shape the commercial strategy and distribution of Disney's music portfolio. He also worked across Disney Home Entertainment and later led the North American toys business for Disney Consumer Products.
As Executive Vice President of Licensing and Merchandising at Twentieth Century Fox, Robert led a multibillion-dollar global licensing business and developed franchise strategies for properties including Avatar, Ice Age, and The Simpsons. He identified the distinctive DNA of each property and converted it into merchandise, games, promotions, and consumer touchpoints that remained authentic to the underlying entertainment.
At Discovery, Robert led North American consumer products and global location-based entertainment for brands including Discovery, Discovery Adventures, Discovery Kids, and Animal Planet. He developed merchandise and experiential businesses that extended those brands beyond television while preserving their educational, adventurous, and family-oriented identities.
As Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Products and Experiences at MGM, and later Head of MGM Consumer Products following the company's acquisition by Amazon, Robert built and expanded licensing, merchandise, gaming, advertising, direct-to-consumer, and location-based entertainment businesses. His portfolio included James Bond, Rocky and Creed, The Addams Family, Pink Panther, Legally Blonde, Stargate, and Vikings.
In 2024, Robert founded M2G: Marick Management Group to help organizations evaluate, build, monetize, and scale intellectual property. He guides clients from initial brand and franchise strategy through business planning, licensing models, partner development, product-category expansion, gaming, retail, and location-based entertainment. Through M2G and The MagicMakers Group, Robert serves as a franchise and IP commercialization and licensing leader who connects storytelling, commerce, and physical experiences, assembling the right specialists to move ambitious ideas from strategy to successful execution.
